Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas – October 2, 2017 – North Tarrant Express (NTE) and LBJ Express (LBJ) have launched a social media photo contest called the Tiny TEXpressers Car Seat Photo Contest which will run for a total of five weeks, and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017. To enter, participants must submit a photo of their child (birth to 3 years old) properly seated and belted in a car seat, as advised by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), inside a non-moving vehicle.
According to the CDC, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children in the US. In addition, the CDC states that in 2015 restraint use saved the lives of 266 children ages 4 years and younger, and car seats reduce the risk of death in car crashes by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers ages 1 to 4.
Child Passenger Safety is an important issue that needs to be highlighted beyond September’s National Child Passenger Safety Week. To extend its awareness, the LBJ and NTE TEXpress Lanes have created the Tiny TEXpressers Car Seat Safety Photo Contest (www.tinytexpressers.hscampaigns.com) to share important safety materials, resources and facts about child passenger safety provided by the CDC and NHTSA.
During the first three weeks of the contest, 15 semi-finalists will be randomly selected each week from the previous photo submission week to receive a $100 gas card. During the final two weeks of the contest, 20 top finalists randomly selected out of the 45 semi-finalists will have their photos displayed online at www.tinytexpressersvoting.hscampaigns.com entered into a public voting contest. The public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite photo(s) beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. The top 3 photos selected by popular vote will win a gas card valued at either $2,000, $1,000 or $500.
The contest is open to Texas residents who are 16 years of age or older. Contestants (the parent or legal guardian of the child whose photo is being submitted) are encouraged to submit a photo to the contest website page www.tinytexpressers.hscampaigns.com or through either one of the LBJ or NTE Facebook pages. Winning photos will be featured on the contest website, on social media pages, and the LBJ and NTE websites. “This contest is a fun and creative way to highlight child passenger safety especially with the high rates of death among infants and children due to the improper use of seat belts and car seats. It’s something that can easily be prevented through education and we are trying to help by sharing the proper resources and materials to parents. A lot of people are unaware that there are free resources available to ensure they are keeping their kids safe. Plus, this contest will give Texas parents the opportunity to show off their kids to friends and family, and win prizes!” explains Alberto Gonzalez, CEO for LBJ Express and North Tarrant Express.
