Fort Worth, TX – July 20, 2018 The North Tarrant Express project in Fort Worth, Texas was awarded the ‘P3 Project of the Year’ by ARTBA during their 30th Annual Public Private Partnerships (P3s) in Transportation Conference in Washington, D.C. on July 19th.

“We are thrilled the North Tarrant Express was selected as ARTBA’s ‘P3 Project of the Year’,” said Belen Marcos, United States president of Cintra. “We are proud to be a part of this successful partnership that demonstrates the benefits and value a P3 can bring to a community.”

This annual award spotlights a project that demonstrates the economic or innovation value P3s bring to U.S. transportation development. Submissions were evaluated against the following criteria:

  • Innovation in procurement, financing or delivery.
  • Increased quality and/or efficiency when compared to a traditional procurement model.
  • Cost savings/value for money.
  • Meeting or exceeding project milestones.
  • Demonstrated economic benefit to the public.

The $2.1 billion North Tarrant Express project, which began in 2010 and was completed in October 2015, included the reconstruction of expanded frontage lanes and main lanes, as well as the addition of bypass lanes and TEXpress managed lanes along I-820 and SH-121/183 between I-35W in Fort Worth and Industrial Boulevard (FM 156) in Euless. This expansive reconstruction project is successfully alleviating traffic congestion along one of the busiest highway corridors in the North Texas and the state, with as many as 200,000 cars traveling the stretch daily.

ARTBA’s P3 conference is one of the premier industry events where hundreds of influential business leaders, project developers, private-sector executives and public-sector representatives from all levels come together for a unique networking and learning opportunity.
